knitwear care

Wool has naturally self-cleaning properties and garments will keep their shape and quality for longer with the right kind of care.

Washing

Avoid unnecessary washing by airing after wear. Wash by hand in lukewarm water with a gentle wool soap or liquid hand soap. First soak for a few minutes in the soapy water, then gently squeeze (never rub) the immersed garment before rinsing in clean lukewarm water. Lay the damp garment on a large towel and gently roll to remove excess water, then lay flat on a clean dry towel and pull gentle to size and shape. Leave away from direct heat sources till garment is dry.

Pilling

Pilling is a normal process in garments of quality natural fibres. It occurs when loose surface fibres rub together owing to the wearers movement and form small bobbles of wool. The best way to care for pilling is to pick the bobbles off your dry garment by hand or gently use a hand-held wool comb. A couple of combs should stop the pilling as all the loose fibres will have worked their way out.
